I've known Kit Young for several years now, and, from day one, I've been fascinated by his photographs for the way they transcend reality. When founding Bergger éditions, I knew it would be just a matter of time before we published some of Kit's visual poems. When I put the idea of Paris to him one day in November, while wandering through the aisles at the Grand-Palais, he replied with "Couplets"–a simple concept that provides the very structure for this photography book. The pairs of photographs combine lines, reflections and movement to offer a spellbinding take of the urban environment. Just like a modern-day Brassaï, the photographs reveal the full beauty of the City of Light; and from start to end, Kit Young's photographs embody a young Englishman's love for Paris. These moments in time, as seen by foreign eyes, remind us of just how beautiful Paris is. Paris, for evermore.
